April 19th to 25th marks National Volunteer Week this year in Canada. The theme is “Ignite Volunteerism”, which focuses on community reconnection through service.

In 2025-2026, PLASP has seen 261 volunteers and 290 students on placement contribute over 65,000 hours of their time and in doing so, sharing their talents while gaining valuable work experience in child care and administration.

Volunteers and Students on Placement contributing their time and talents at PLASP!

This year, PLASP’s Volunteer Services team was excited to launch the new PLASP Volunteer Recognition Program which recognizes volunteers for their dedication to their volunteer position at PLASP based on the number of hours they have completed in their role. With gifts of appreciation at the 50-hours, 100-hours, and 150-hours marks, volunteers are incentivized and encouraged to come back to their volunteer position year after year.

PLASP Volunteer Brooke Penman completed 190 volunteer hours at PLASP! Thank you Brooke!

PLASP’s Manager of Volunteer Services shares this message of gratitude with the volunteers and students on placement who give their time and talents in PLASP Programs, Early Learning and Child Care Centres, EarlyON Centres, our Head Office, and as members of PLASP’s Board of Directors!
