Get ready to rock and roll 50’s style with PLASP and Santa!

With a lot of hard work and holiday magic, PLASP Child Care Services staff are busy transforming an ordinary flatbed truck into a fantastical blast-from-the past scene with the theme “Christmas at PLASP’s Rock and Roll Diner” for several upcoming Santa Claus Parades.

PLASP began entering a float in the Santa Claus Parade more than 30 years ago. The first rendition was a twinkle light decked-out school bus.

Over the years, many PLASP staff have worked on the parade floats. They look forward to this season every time it rolls around.

“I love the parade! I began working on the parade floats years ago when I was stationed at a PLASP program location. I would paint sets and the kids would help.” says Debbie Purich, PLASP Coordinator of Volunteer Services. “I always went to the parade when I was a kid, then my husband and I took my son when he was young. Now, I enjoy seeing our PLASP families in the crowd and the smiles and recognition on their faces when our float goes by.”

This year’s parade float consists of a mock 1950’s diner, music from the era, and a lot of lights! In addition, PLASP staff will be decked out in handmade aprons and poodle skirts that will also have the ability to light up.

The Brampton Santa Claus Parade on Saturday, November 16^th.

The Mississauga Santa Claus Parade on Sunday, December 1^st.
