Glitter Jar – An Arts Activity
Many children have a fascination with glitter (sometimes much to parents’ chagrin!), but this activity can be done outdoors to minimize mess, plus finished glitter jars can have a calming effect on children and adults alike!
What you need:
-
½ cup water
-
½ cup clear glue, or glitter glue
-
Glitter
-
Glass jar with lid
-
Glue gun
Process:
-
Measure ½ cup of clear glue, or glitter glue and pour it into your jar.
-
Add ½ cup of water.
-
Add glitter (If you have used glitter glue, you can skip this step, but for clear glue or an “extra glittery” jar, add more glitter!)
-
With the help of an adult, use your glue gun to firmly glue on the lid of the jar (crazy glue can be used in place of a glue gun).
-
Once the jar and sealed and the lid has dried, children can shake the jars to see the glitter float and swirl about!
Tip: Have children help with the measuring of ingredients to add a math component to this activity.
