The Four Foundations of Learning - PLASP

The Four Foundations of Learning

Three posters are shown that outline the four foundations of learning - belonging, well-being, expression and engagement.

Children are at the centre of everything we do. Every day at each of our 200+ locations, we provide positive caregiving, stimulating activities and the building of positive relationships between children, educators and families, Our programs inspire early learning and are built upon the understanding that every child is competent, capable, curious and rich in potential.

PLASP programs provide an environment that fosters curiosity and allows children to explore. We believe that every child deserves a safe and caring environment in which to grow and develop to their maximum potential.

Our goals for children, consistent with the Ministry of Education pedagogy "How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years", includes the following:

BELONGING

Every child has a sense of belonging when they are connected with others, and contributes to the world.

WELL-BEING

Every child is developing a sense of self, health and well-being.

ENGAGEMENT

Every child is an engaged learner who explores the world with mind, body and senses.

EXPRESSION

Every child is a capable communicator who expresses themselves in many ways.
