In 2004, PLASP (in conjunction with the Early Childhood Education program with the Faculty of Applied Health and Community Studies at Sheridan College), established the Barbara Kleschnitzki Award, in recognition of the retirement of Barbara Kleschnitzki, the Director of Volunteer Services. At the time of her retirement, over 1,000 students had received placements during the first 10 years of the student on placement program.
Each year, Sheridan College assists PLASP with selecting the recipient of the “Barb K Award” (as it’s affectionately referred to by PLASP staff), awarding the scholarship to a student that has overcome challenging or unusual circumstances.
This scholarship is awarded each year at Sheridan College's Faculty of Applied Health and Community Studies Academic Awards Ceremony.
