Canadian Chef Michael Smith Keynote at PLASP’s 40th Anniversary Annual Parent Meeting

PLASP is pleased to welcome Michael Smith, one of Canada’s best-known chefs as the keynote speaker at PLASP's 40th Anniversary Annual Parent Meeting on Monday, October 26, 2015 at the International Centre in Mississauga. The host of Chef Michael’s KitchenChef Abroad and Chef at Home (seen on Food Network CanadaGlobal and in more than 100 other countries), Chef Michael is a  judge on Chopped Canada and traveled the world for his innovative new web series Lentil Hunter.

“We know first-hand from watching parents picking their children up from PLASP programs how busy they are. For many of these parents, there’s a rush to get home and prepare dinners for their families. We can’t think of a better keynote speaker for our Annual Parent Meeting then Canadian chef Michael Smith,” said Lynn Hiebert, PLASP CEO. “As a busy father of three, Chef Michael can relate to the demands of being a working parent. He’s excited to share his passion with our parents for simple, sustainable home cooking and inspire them to create a healthy lifestyle that works for them.”

PLASP is expecting 1,700 parents and staff to attend the annual parent meeting on Monday, October 26, 2015 to hear Chef Michael Smith share his tips for simple but sustainable home cooking.

“Of the many hats I wear none matters more than family cook. Each and every day I take the time to prepare tasty, nutritious meals for my kids. I understand the challenge so I look forward to sharing tales, tips and a few surprises from my home kitchen with PLASP parents,” said Chef Michael Smith about his upcoming keynote at the Annual Parent Meeting.

The 40th Anniversary Annual Parent Meeting will be sponsored in part by Longo’s/Grocery Gateway. A longstanding supporter of PLASP programs, Grocery Gateway delivers groceries to the PLASP programs biweekly.

“Healthy, nutritional and substantial breakfasts and snacks are a priority in all our programs – as well as the lunches provided by our Early Learning and Child Care Centres and lunch programs,” added Lynn. “We’re very excited to partner with Longo’s as a sponsor of this event in our efforts to promote healthy eating to our families.” A typical snack in the PLASP program includes whole grain crackers with cheese, yogurt, apple slices and milk or juice. A sample menu is available at plasp.com.

This event is by invitation only and a ticket is required for admittance. If you are a PLASP parent or staff and have not received your invitation, please contact SamanthaRambajan@plasp.com as soon as possible to request your ticket. See you there!
