Join PLASP on Thursday, June 2, 2016 as we celebrate 40 years of providing high-quality care to Peel and Toronto families. PLASP will be hosting more than 450 parties in over 200 schools on this date, from 4pm-5:30pm. Families, community partners, local politicians and media are all invited to join us as we gather to celebrate and showcase the quality service and care that has earned PLASP its award-winning reputation since opening their doors in 1975.

“We are thrilled to be collaborating with more than 1,200 staff to plan these parties for PLASP families and friends on June 2,” says Lynn Hiebert, PLASP CEO. “It’s a great opportunity to witness the play-based and child-led activities occurring in our programs on a daily basis.”
PLASP curriculum follows the guidelines of early learning, outlined in the Ontario Ministry of Education’s pedagogy document, “How Does Learning Happen?” PLASP programs also incorporate the principles of the HighScope curriculum, using the five ingredients of active learning – Materials, Manipulation, Choice, Child Language and Thought, and Adult Scaffolding.

“On June 2, parents will have the chance to observe these five ingredients of active learning that create the foundation of PLASP programming,” says Diane Phu, PLASP Curriculum Manager. “These age-appropriate activities are experienced by children in all our programs, from our Early Learning and Child Care Centres, straight through to our school age programs, that accept children until 12 years of age.”
Activities on June 2 will include open-ended arts and crafts stations, photo booths, and a word wall. Refreshments will also be provided. This event will take place is all PLASP schools from 4pm-5:30pm and is open to the public.
