Earlier this month, longstanding volunteer Anna Luchin was recognized for her contributions to PLASP by the City of Mississauga, receiving their distinguished City Award of Recognition. A PLASP volunteer for 10 years, the following praise was given to Anna in her nomination by PLASP Volunteer Coordinator, Lisa McGregor:

“Anna Luchin began her career with PLASP in January 1987. As a well-loved and extremely respected Program Director, Anna spent 21 years enriching the lives of young children in the program. Over time, Anna began to very generously dedicate part of her free time to volunteer in the PLASP head office. Anna is an active member of our Wednesday morning volunteer group, and spends much of her time assisting with various administrative tasks including filing, collating, and distributing correspondence. Since February 2005, Anna has contributed more than 1105 hours in our PLASP Office Volunteer Program. Anna gives much more than her time; her happy character and motivational spirit has won over the shyest of her fellow volunteers.

She is a natural leader with a friendly demeanor, and as such, people gravitate towards her. If there is a project that Anna is leading we have noted that many other volunteers sign up just to be with her. It is with great admiration and respect that we nominate Anna for this Award of Recognition.”

Anna was present at Mississauga’s City Hall with her husband Frank to accept the award, presented by Mayor Bonnie Crombie. Said her husband during this happy occasion, “I am so proud of you, Anna, and so happy to share this special moment with you!” Anna is one of more than 1,700 volunteers and students on placements that contribute more than 65,000 community service hours annually through PLASP’s award-winning volunteer program. We wish to congratulate Anna on this prestigious award and would like to thank her for her contributions to PLASP and our community. Congratulations, Anna!
