Ghost Balloon! A science and technology based activity geared towards school-aged children.

Ghost balloon will allow your children to witness an exciting (and safe!) chemical reaction. Combining baking soda and vinegar together will create enough gas to inflate a balloon!

Here’s what you need:

  • baking soda (2 teaspoons)
  • vinegar (3 tablespoons)
  • 1 balloon
  • An empty bottle
  • Funnel (optional)

Follow these easy steps:

  1. Pour three tablespoons (45 milliliters) of vinegar into the bottle.
  2. Spoon two teaspoons (10 milliliters) of baking soda into the balloon (use a funnel if you like to helps distribute baking soda into the balloon). Shake the baking soda down into the body of the balloon.
  3. Stretch the neck of the balloon over the opening of the bottle.
  4. Pull the balloon up straight to let the baking soda fall into the vinegar and watch what happens!

Have your child measure and pour the ingredients.

Wow! How does it do that!?
