Car Wash
Have fun with some suds in the sun with this activity. Children spend lots of time watching adults around them perform household chores and welcome the opportunity for some child-sized responsibility and leadership. Let your child soak a sponge with some soapy bubbles and wash your car. Don’t have one? No problem. Bring out their bike, wagon, scooter or trucks instead.
-a large bucket of soapy water
You can frame the activity to your child by talking about car washes, “When people have a dirty car, they take it to car wash to get it cleaned. It’s like a bath for a car. Let’s pretend we are at the car wash to clean our car.” Introduce the materials to your child, “We have a bucket with soapy water and a sponge. Let’s dip the sponge and start cleaning the car doors.” It’s always a good idea to have materials for you and for your child too. In this way you can show your child how to do something but also copy the actions of your child. When you do as they do, you are telling your child that what they are doing is important and will validate your child’s efforts. Have fun and enjoy this outdoor experience!
