3D Paint! – An Arts, Math and Science Activity

It’s time to take painting to a 3 dimensional level! In this activity, children help make homemade, 3D paint perfect for creating their next masterpiece! Have children help to measure and mix the ingredients for added elements of math and science.

What you will need:

  • 2 tablespoon of flour for each colour of paint.
  • 2 tablespoon of salt for each colour of paint.
  • 4 tablespoons of water for each colour of paint.
  • Mugs or bowls to mix paint in.
  • Food colouring.
  • Small zip lock bags.
  • Paper or cardboard to paint on.

Process:

  • In a separate mug or bowl for each colour, mix 2 tablespoons of four, 2 tablespoons of salt, and 4 tablespoons of water.
  • Add a different shade of food colouring to each mug or bowl to create a variety of colours.
  • Use a spoon or spatula to transfer each colour into its own zip lock bag.
  • Cut a small piece of the corner off of each zip lock bag so that paint can be squeezed through.
  • Encourage children to create their masterpiece by either squeezing the paint onto paper or cardboard!

Tip:

With Father’s Day coming up this Sunday, June 21st, perhaps children would like to create something special for Dad!
