Hole in One

Providing our children with a fun and engaging experiences does not require expensive or extravagant materials. Try making this fun game with just a few materials you likely have already in your home. The object of this game is for children to move the paper plate around and coax the ball into falling through the hole. First, you will have to do a tiny bit of set up prior to introducing your child to this activity.

What You Will Need:

- Paper plate

Scissors

Small Ball (ping pong, bouncy, golf ball)

Process

Using scissors, cut a hole in the middle of a paper plate. The hole should be big enough so that a small sized ball can fit through it. The purpose of this activity is for your child to move the paper plate around so that the ball falls through the hole in the plate.

Invite your child to be a part of the set-up. Lay out the materials and explain the process of setting up the game, “This is a paper plate and we need to create a hole on the plate for our ball to fit through. What do you think we can use to make a hole?” Once you have created the hole in the plate, demonstrate to your child how to hold onto the sides of the plate, “Hold the plate in your hands and try to move the ball around so that it will fall through the hole.” If this is too challenging for your child, you can hold their hands in yours and play in tandem or, make the hole in the plate bigger so that it is easier for the ball to find its way through.
