Circle Printing
Circle printing is a fun art activity for when you’re trying to make the most of what’s available. Exercise your child’s fine motor skills by encouraging them to press, stamp and print circles. But before we get started, we might need to search the recycling bin for some paper towel tubes!
Just by repurposing materials, we encourage our children to use their imagination and be more creative.
The idea of this activity is to dip one end of the mini paper towel tube in paint and use it to make circular prints on paper. Depending on the age of your child, have your child cut out the paper towel tube into smaller sections, using safe scissors. Next, provide your child with choices of paint and have them select the ones that they would like to use for the activity. When we provide our children with choices, we promote decision making which is a stepping stone for building their confidence.
Engaging with Your Child:
Open the activity with an invitation “I have a fun art activity in mind, would you like to help me set-up? Take equal part in their play and have extra materials set-up for yourself. Acknowledge their process “I see that you’re overlapping the circles, “do you think you can show me how to do that?” In this activity we’re printing circles but that does not mean we should be limited to discussing them. Start a conversation about other simple shapes squares, triangles, stars.
