Glow Stick Dance - Movement and Expression
When we spend time and engage with our children, we positively contribute to their social and emotional growth. With the focus being on creative expression, strengthen the bond and make warm memories with this next family fun activity.
Process for making the costume:
-
Start by activating the glow sticks. Gently bend the stick from the middle and then shake for a few seconds. (Once activated glow sticks can last from 4 to 24 hours).
-
Next, measure how many glow sticks you might need by placing it on the outer parts of your child's clothing.
-
Secure the glow sticks with tape. (You might need more than one piece to prevent the glow stick from falling down).
-
Now it’s time to glow in the dark, turn off the lights to see the glow stick effects.
-
Dance, Move, and Jump to the sound of the music.
“When children manipulate materials, explore music and movement, create symbols (e.g., mark-making), and engage in imaginative expression (e.g., visual art) and dramatic play, they are communicating (HDLH, 2014).”
