Matching Cards into Slots
Our next activity is all about matching! It’s simple to implement and focuses on enhancing fine motor skills and number recognition. So, let’s begin!
-
Cardboard box with lid
-
Tape
-
Scissors or X-Acto Knife (for adult use only)
-
Numbered Cards- for young children “UNO” cards work best because of the vibrant colours and large writing but feel free to use whatever is available and make sure to have two of each.
1.) Start by preparing the box, using scissors or an X-Acto knife cut slots onto the base of the box. Make sure to use the cards as reference when determining how wide to cut the slots.
2.) Next, using tape secure one set of the matching cards to the top of every slot.
3.) Encourage your child to pick a card and drop it into the matching slot.
Variation: use colours or alphabets instead of numbers.
