Choo Choo Matching

This activity will get your child thinking while learning their letters! Children will learn by attaching the wheels to the train in their appropriate spot. This activity allows children to practice their matching and fine motor skills.

What you will need:

  • - Cut out pieces of construction paper (26 circles for the wheels, 13 rectangles for the body of the train)

  • - Markers to write the letters

  • - Masking tape or painter’s tape

  • - Small bag or basket for wheels

Process:

  • - Prepare the train on a flat surface (door, table, playmat)

  • - Write the letters on the train and the wheels

  • - Prepare the tape so that children can easily attach it

Engaging with your child:

Parents can join in this activity to help children strategize! Perhaps it's laying out the wheels on a table so that they can easily see them all. Parents can also say the letters with the children and even teach them what sound each letter makes.
