Feed the Turkey
Let’s try a creative and colourful approach to learning by Feeding the Turkey! Using simple craft materials, enhance your child's fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and spatial awareness by providing your child with a pair of tongs and encouraging them to pick and place pom poms.
-
- Plastic jar
-
- Pompom balls
-
- Plastic tongs
-
- Construction paper
-
- Googly eyes
-
- Scissors
-
- Glue gun
-
1. Cut out red, yellow and orange feathers from construction paper, a yellow beak and a red waddle (tear drop shape).
-
2. Glue beak, waddle and googly eyes on to plastic jar for face. Glue feathers on the back of jar for tail (use the picture above as reference).
You can start by inviting your child to help create the turkey jar. Then provide your child with a pair of tongs and have one pair ready for yourself. Explain the process of the activity, “Now that our turkey is ready, it's getting hungry for food”, “let’s feed the turkey” (pom poms). Model how to pick up the pom poms using tongs and encourage your child to do the same.
