Flour Sensory Play Station

It’s okay to get a little messy when we’re having fun! Our next activity focuses on developing fine motor skillsMake prints and practice writing letters by creating a sensory exploration station with flour.

What You will Need

  • Flat pan, tray, or smooth surface

  • Flour

  • Paint brush (optional)

Tip: Make sure to have a broom and dust pan ready for clean-up!

Engaging with Your Child

Start the activity by pouring flour onto a flat surface or tray and inviting your child to playSit beside them and encourage them to feel and explore the flour using their hands. Ask open-ended questions such as, “How does the flour feel?”. Encourage them to use their imagination to draw pictures and shapes of their choiceWow, look at those swirls!.  After your child is done exploring with their hands, introduce paint brushes and practice writing letters in the flour.
