Parachute and Balls - Interactive Gross Motor Game
Bring your imagination and let’s get moving! Using balls to represent food and a parachute to represent our body, talk about the types of food we consume and differentiate whether they’re healthy or not with today’s interactive gross motor game.
-
1. Encourage your child to tightly grasp onto the corners of the sheet.
-
2. Toss a ball inside the sheet and call out what it will represent, for example, apples, candy, chocolate, water.
-
3. If the “food” tossed in, is healthy, shake the sheet up and down and try to keep the ball inside. If it’s junk food, shake the parachute really fast and toss the ball out.
Invite your child to play and guide them how to grasp onto the corners of the sheet. Toss a ball inside the sheet and verbalize what it represents, “Here goes strawberry ice cream, do you think ice cream is a healthy food or junk food? It’s junk food! let’s shake, shake, shake.” When adults are partners in play, children elaborate their pretend play themes and representation.
