Turtle Time

Turtle Time is a fun way to help your child observe the environment around them. You can be at any place at any time, all you have to do is take a moment and ask your child what they see!

Engaging with
Your Child

This simple activity has many benefits. As you are on a walk, or at the playground, or even running errands for your home, stop and take a moment with your child and say “I wonder what we can see going on around us right now”. It will show your child to be mindful of their surroundings, pick-up on social cues, and understand the perspective of others. Give your child a chance to tell you what they see. To make it more exciting, you can say, “I spy with my little eye…a person wearing a red shirt playing a game with other children in the playground”. If you have an infant or a toddler who are beginning to vocalize, you can communicate by narrating and pointing out as you go along. For example, Look someone's pushing their child on the swing” or “I see someone standing in line to pay for their groceries”
