What You will Need

- Music

  • - Choice of two plates (paper or plastic) or two spoons (wooden, plastic, paper or silver)

Process

- Prepare an open space around your home, ensuring floor is free of any tripping hazards or objects.

- Distribute plates and spoons so that each person has two to dance with.

- Play music!

Engaging with Your Child

This fun activity will have you clapping your plates/spoons together while dancing to music. Begin by playing music of your choice and clapping your items to the beat. Let your child know that you will take turns and follow each other’s lead by imitating what the other person does. Depending on the music, you can clap fast, slow, loud, soft, or in circles. You can clap behind your back, over your head, or under your foot. You can also tap the items on different body parts such as your shoulders, knees or belly. The options are endless! Remember to enrich this experience by using language to describe what each person is doing.
