Celebrating Easter with a Fitness Egg Hunt

Good Friday and Easter Sunday is a significant time of the year for Christians all over the world. Good Friday is celebrated as the day that the Son of God, Jesus Christ, was crucified and buried. On Easter day, Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ for coming back to life. It is believed that God accepted Jesus’ sacrifice and that humankind is forgiven and will have eternal life in Heaven. Easter is celebrated by going to church, singing, candlelight, flowers, ringing of church bells and giving chocolate eggs and rabbits. You can see how Easter is celebrated around the world here.
Today we are going to play an active and entertaining game that will make everyone get up and move. This easy to make and simple to play activity can be done indoors or outdoors. So, let's mark this Easter holiday with happy and active memories with the family.

Place them inside the eggs. If you don't have the fillable eggs - simply fold the cardboard sheet in half.
-
Hide them in a variety of spaces indoors or outdoors.
Children love to be engaged in activities that requires them to move their whole body. Include them in the process of creating this activity and the actions. The focus of this game is to engage your child to be physically active. Invite your child to begin by saying “Are you ready to hunt for the eggs? 1, 2, 3 – GO!”. Move along with your child and encourage them by saying “You’re getting verrrry close! Oh, you found it!”. As your child continues to look for eggs, engage with them in completing the actions together. Your child will look at your facial expressions for cues of excitement and encouragement - show them how much fun you’re having together. Once they found all the eggs, ask them “How did that feel finding all the eggs? Would you like to do that again?”. Encourage them to repeat the egg hunt to get in more physical activity. Have fun hunting!
