Bunny Stamps
Today we are creating a bunny stamp out of three paper rolls. Stamping is an activity that children of all ages love to do. This easy project provides the opportunity for children to engage in sensory art play to express themselves creatively while strengthening their fine motor skills.
-
Tape or glue the three paper rolls together making sure they are leveled with each other.
-
Squeeze the two paper rolls in the middle to look like bunny ears.
-
Pour paint on a plate/tray.
-
Dip the rolls in the paint and press it hard on the paper.
-
Optional: Use the brush or markers to paint details on your painting.
Painting provides many enjoyable learning experiences for little ones. Painting is a great process to help your child express their thoughts and feelings without a single word. Painting also refines their fine motor and hand-eye coordination skills by practicing holding a brush while moving their hands and eyes simultaneously.
Invite your child to paint by saying “I would like us to do some fun bunny painting. Would you like to help me pick colours and paint with me today?”. Ask your child to choose the colours they like the most for their painting. This promotes them to make decisions independently which helps build their confidence. Have extra materials at hand and be involved in the painting process alongside your child. Acknowledge their efforts by narrating what they are doing, “I see you mixed two colours together! Can you show me how you did that?”. Praise their efforts and find a safe space to let your artwork dry to hang around your home.
Tip: This stamp does not have to end with bunnies. You can extend this activity by gathering extra paper rolls and asking your child "What other shapes can you make out of this roll?”.
