Invite your child to make their own bread alongside you so they can experience hands-on baking, “Would you like to bake the special Challah with me?” (Pronounced haa-luh with no CH- sound). While the bread is baking in the oven, take a moment to explain to your child that this is a symbolic and important recipe for our friends from the Jewish community.
A simple conversation about appreciating other cultural celebrations and traditions can raise your child’s awareness, acceptance and respect towards others. Having these conversations also helps your child to develop a positive self-image, sense of identity and self-esteem.
