PLASP Celebrates National Volunteer Week 2022

National Volunteer Week 2022 runs from April 24th to 30th

April 24th to 30th marks National Volunteer Week and this year in particular, it’s with a renewed sense of gratitude that PLASP is celebrating as volunteers and students on placement have begun to be welcomed back to our after school programs and Early Learning and Child Care Centres.

“After two years, PLASP is so happy to be gradually welcoming volunteers back to our after school programs, while maintaining a safe learning environment for all staff, children and volunteers.” said Giovanna Del Pellaro, PLASP Manager, Volunteer Services. “To all of our PLASP volunteers past and present, we thank you and celebrate you during National Volunteer Week and always!”

Why PLASP feels that celebrating volunteers is so important

Children benefit from having volunteers in program

Volunteers bring additional enrichment to PLASP programs with their own unique skillsets and strengths, while supporting PLASP staff in implementing daily activities. Also, children often bond with the volunteers that come to program. The smile that lights up a child’s face when a beloved volunteer arrives at PLASP is priceless!

Volunteers thrive from giving back

PLASP Child Care Services is an award-winning child care provider known for serving families within our community for over 45-years. In fact, often young people who were once PLASP children come back to volunteer because they remember their own positive experience and want to give back.

Volunteers often describe their experience at PLASP as helping them feel more confident in themselves and their abilities.

Interested in volunteering with PLASP?

PLASP is currently accepting volunteer applications from secondary school students who are interested in volunteering within our after school programs. Please note that as a volunteer, you will never be left alone with the children. A qualified PLASP staff member will be with you at all times.

Once again, Happy National Volunteer Week! PLASP is thrilled to welcome you back and thanks you for all that you do!
