Five Benefits of a PLASP Early Learning and Child Care Centres

As a charitable organization operating on a not-for-profit basis, PLASP offers affordable, licensed full day care for children six weeks to five years at 30 Early Learning and Child Care Centres in Peel and Toronto. Parents and caregivers can go to work with peace of mind, knowing their children are well taken care of and inspired to grow in an award-winning environment that is fun, safe and educational.

Here are five ways infants, toddlers, and preschoolers can benefit from the care and curriculum offered in a PLASP Early Learning and Child Care Centre:

1. Warm and nurturing staff members who connect well with children and families and maintain a safe, warm and caring environment in which a high-quality full day program can operate. Staff are trained to the highest standards in working with young children and must hold a valid First Aid Certificate. Each Early Learning and Child Care Centre is staffed with Early Childhood Educators registered with the College of Early Childhood Education; PLASP offers continuous training for all staff.

2. Meeting and exceeding the high standards for licensing by the Ministry of Education. For more than 45 years, PLASP Child Care Services has been providing award-winning, high quality early learning and child care programs that are licensed under the Ministry of the Education.

3. Curriculum based on the HighScope® approach. PLASP staff work collaboratively to help plan, develop, and implement programs of stimulating age-appropriate activities for groups of children. The development of this approach is based on long-term research that shows children learn best from active-learning experiences that they plan and carry out under the guidance of adult supervision. This gives children the best start prior to starting school. Activities promote their physical, social, emotional and intellectual well-being, in accordance with the Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA), How Does Learning Happen? (HDLH?) and the guidelines established by PLASP for all program components. The four foundations within this document, Belonging, Well-Being, Engagement, and Expression are embraced in the PLASP programs.

4. Offer discounted rates for children under age 6 through the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) system. CWELCC is a landmark agreement for parents with children in our Early Learning and Child Care Programs and will support Ontario families to achieve an average fee of $10 per day for children under the age of six by 2025. PLASP’s competitive fees, which are approved annually by the PLASP Board of, include breakfast, lunch and snacks freshly prepared on-site daily AND diapers, wipes and select diaper creams.

5. Experience the benefits of socialization. Children in child care centres spend time with children their own age, as well as caregivers, which inspires them to learn, grow, and develop. Learning from other children is a great way for your child to explore their own interests as well as learn about others who may have different backgrounds or cultures. They will also learn how to develop their language skills, collaborate and bond with other children and care providers, and prepare for school.
