PLASP Celebrates Those Who Give Back During National Volunteer Week

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”
~ Mahatma Gandhi

In 2023, PLASP welcomed more than 360 Volunteers and Students on Placement to its programs. These dedicated individuals gave their time and effort to support our programs, staff, and families.

“Volunteer Services would like to thank each of our volunteers and students on placement for their ongoing commitment to PLASP. We are grateful for the contributions made to both our programs and head office. Children and staff love to have volunteers and students attending their programs, and look forward to the added smiles and additional fun our volunteers and students bring! To our office volunteers and students, we thank you for your support of PLASP’s administrative tasks; these behind-the-scenes contributions do not go unnoticed!” says Jennifer Lizon, Manager of Volunteer Services at PLASP. “During National Volunteer Week we take the time to express our gratitude to the incredible commitment made to PLASP from our volunteers and students. Our sincerest thank you for choosing PLASP to dedicate your valuable time, creativity, and fun!”

This year, National Volunteer Week runs from April 14 to April 20 and PLASP Child Care Services would like to take this opportunity to celebrate and thank the many volunteers who have contributed their time, energy and enthusiasm to our programs and Head Office over the years.

“My favourite aspect of my volunteer experience is being able to interact with the children and learn about the interests of each child. It was lovely to see their development every week and be part of what makes their child care experience a positive one.”

“Volunteering at PLASP has been a great experience for me and has taught me many new things that I can potentially use in my future jobs. Volunteering in PLASP Head Office taught me how to handle paperwork and overall improved my productivity and organizational skills.”

“I loved how welcoming everyone was, working with staff and other children did not feel like work, but more so like fun!”

“My favourite aspect of this volunteering experience is that I got to get to know the kids and interacting with them was truly amazing.”

“The warm welcome experience from the educators; the environment felt safe and inclusive.”

“Every week, coming to PLASP, I’ve been greeted with excitement from the kids. I’ve applied my skills, learnt new ones and gained self-confidence by the end of my time volunteering.”
